Over the course of two weeks, 10 participants aged 11 to 20—residents of the refugee community housing—took part in a photo workshop organised by KiNO, Play, and the Canon Young People Programme.
Four participants developed their own photo series inspired by UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 11. Living in shared spaces—where families spend over a year with communal kitchens and bathrooms—these children and young adults used photography to reflect on their environment and everyday challenges. Their projects explore themes of loneliness, the emotional strain of co-living in small rooms, the difficulty of making choices, and the role of friendship and family in overcoming isolation.
To create their photo series, the participants learned the basics of documentary photography, composition, and analogue printing techniques such as cyanotype. The course concluded with a final exhibition on 25.04.2025 in the backyard of the community housing.
