About the Exhibition

Over 1.5-month course 10 participants worked on personal projects using analogue cameras only, which they presented in a final exhibition.

They printed their works by hand in the darkroom, gaining both technical skills and a better understanding of the analogue photography process. Their personal projects explored a wide range of themes, from the mathematics of space and geometry to the human experience of solitude and inner reflection.

Some works focused on the quiet beauty of shadows, the unnoticed details of our everyday environment, and the emotional depth that can be captured through simple shapes and light. Others delved into more introspective topics, such as the relationship between solitude and personal growth. The theme of isolation was often explored, with participants using photography to express the different ways we experience being alone and how this state can lead to self-discovery.

Zaporizhzhia is a front-line city, so creative activities like this are meaningful for the local community. These projects have become a kind of snapshot of the times, where the residents are sharing their perspectives and reflect on their experiences through the lens of a camera. And for the external viewer, it offers a chance to see life told from a first-person perspective.

The final exhibition took place at the Youth Center in Zaporizhzhia, with the opening on August 31st. At least 60 people attended, marking the event as a significant cultural moment for the local community.
