“Letters” is a project about memory as a form of correspondence with oneself. Veronika describes a photograph as a letter without words: she gathers moments, smells, sensations, and loud laughter, then seals them into imaginary envelopes that can be reopened years later. In the interactive work, the viewer opens several of these letters and moves between fragments of the artist’s life: school and graduation, a summer in Minsk, a first job, journeys, Pinsk, her grandmother’s house, friends, and family stories. These episodes do not exist as a strict chronology, but in the way memory works, through isolated details, tones of voice, and sudden associations. Although digital, the work feels almost physical: photographs, squared paper, tape, handwritten notes, and collages create the impression of a personal archive or a box of real letters. For Veronika, photography becomes a way of preserving the past exactly as she wants to remember it, while also recognizing that some letters can no longer be written again.
