About

My Dear Resort is an exhibition of documentary photography by KINO school graduates with the support of the Canon Young People Programme.

18 stories about life in exile, growing up, finding support and new routes in an unfamiliar city. All participants are teenagers and young adults aged 14 to 22 who found themselves in Batumi after their families were forced to leave their home. Documentary photography became for them not only a way to explore a new place, but also an opportunity to better understand themselves - through an attentive look at others.

The exhibition is open until August 30Admission to the opening is free.

Throughout the week of the exhibition, lectures, master classes and film screenings dedicated to photography and visual art will be held.

Participation in the events for a voluntary donation.

About the Exhibition

My Dear Resort is an exhibition of documentary photography by KINO school graduates with the support of the Canon Young People Programme.

Opportunity to learn the stories behind the series and purchase original postcards and prints.


August 24 (Sun)
18:00 — Film “Finding Vivian Maier”
How a found archive of photographs of an ordinary nanny became a worldwide sensation.


August 25 (Mon)
18:00 — Lecture “Personal Photo Project — From Idea to Implementation”
Photographer and KINO teacher Stanislava Novgorodtseva shares her experience of creating original projects.


August 26 (Tue)
18:00 — Film “The Salt of the Earth”
Portrait of the legendary photographer Sebastiao Salgado by Wim Wenders and Juliano Salgado, the photographer’s son.


August 27 (Wed)
19:00 — Lecture “How to travel around the city you live in?”
Art historian Lidiya Zhur on methods of studying spaces based on sociology and ethnography.


August 28 (Thu)
18:00 — Film “Everybody Street”
New York masters of street photography — from Bruce Davidson to Mary Ellen Mark — share secrets of working with the urban environment and street scenes.


August 29 (Fri)
18:00 — Discussion with the exhibition curator Petr Antonov
"Why do exhibitions?"


August 30 (Sat)
19:00 — Tour by the exhibition curator
Final tour of the exhibition with a story about the concept of the exhibition and a discussion of the creative approaches of the participants. The exhibition will close after the tour.

Stanislava Novgorodtseva
Stanislava Novgorodtseva is an educational program curator at the KINO school and a documentary photographer. She collaborates with various charitable foundations and media outlets. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Calvert Journal, Courrier International, The Village, Bird in Flight, Takie Dela, and others.
