We presented an online filmmaking workshop for Ukrainian teenagers aged 14+, offering them the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of cinema. Throughout the course, participants learned to see the world through a filmmaker’s eyes, mastering the art of framing, composition, and visual storytelling. They explored every stage of the process — from scriptwriting and storyboarding to shooting, sound design, and editing — gaining hands-on experience with professional techniques and software. Step by step, they built their skills and ultimately created their first short films.
Among them were:
“The Killswitch,” directed by Valeria Perviy — a poetic exploration of what it feels like to wait for the end of the world.
“Life’s Rays of Sunlight,” directed by Anastasiia Shevchenko — filmed on an old camera, giving the work a nostalgic and warm atmosphere.
“Three Years of Silence,” directed by Artyom Boryachok — a sensitive and visually thoughtful film about the emotional transition from one place to another.
“Dream on an Autumn Day,” directed by Tymur Shakun — a masterful thriller where reality blends with unsettling imagination.
“The Path to Oneself,” directed by Alina Chefanova — an honest work about searching for one’s identity and inner strength.
Designed for young people aged 14 to 20 who are eager to dive into filmmaking, the workshop ran from October 3 to November 15 with weekly Saturday sessions, culminating in a final screening on November 29.
